Privacy Policy.

Effective May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

The short version

OmniSocial is a local social network. To run it, we collect the minimum information needed to give you a working account (name, email, ZIP code, password hash) and anything you choose to post. We do not sell your personal information. We don't show third-party ads. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings, and we will permanently remove your data within 30 days.

1. Who we are

"OmniSocial," "we," "us," or "our" refers to OmniSocial Inc., operator of https://omnisocial.net and the OmniSocial web and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you use the Service.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account info: first name, last name, email, password (stored as a one-way hash), ZIP code.
  • Profile info you choose to add: pronouns, bio, profile photo, links to your other social accounts.
  • Content you create: posts, comments, chat-room messages, direct messages, marketplace listings, rental listings, photos, and any attached media.
  • Customer-support communications you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Approximate location derived from your ZIP code (so we know which city's feed to show you).
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, timestamps. Used for security and abuse prevention only.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 8.

Information from others

If a neighbor mentions you, tags you, or sends you a direct message, that content is collected from them and shown to you.

3. How we use information

  • To operate and improve the Service (create your account, show your city's feed, deliver messages).
  • To communicate with you about your account, security, or service updates.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, illegal activity, or violations of our Terms.
  • To comply with legal obligations.
  • With your consent — for anything not described above.

4. How we share information

We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With other users of the Service. Anything you post in a public feed, chat room, or city page is visible to other neighbors. Direct messages are visible to the recipient.
  • With service providers who help us run the Service (cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processors). They're contractually limited to using your data only to provide their service.
  • For legal reasons. If required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfers. If OmniSocial is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may transfer with the Service.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it with third-party advertisers for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Your rights (all U.S. residents)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and personal information.
  • Export a copy of your content.
  • Opt out of any non-essential email communications.

To exercise any of these rights, email our support form or use the in-app controls at Profile → Settings → Delete account.

6. Your rights — California (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you also have the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect and the purposes.
  • Know what categories of sources we collect from and what categories of third parties we share with.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share, but the right exists by law).
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Be free from retaliation for exercising any CCPA right.

We do not knowingly process personal information of California residents under 16 without affirmative authorization.

7. Your rights — Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA)

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data, and certain profiling. To exercise these rights, contact us at our support form. You may appeal our decision on any such request by replying to our response.

8. Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Authentication — keeping you signed in.
  • Preferences — your dark/light theme, dismissed banners, etc.
  • Security — detecting suspicious activity.

We do not use cookies for third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; doing so will sign you out.

9. Children under 13 (COPPA)

OmniSocial is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, email our support form.

10. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal information and content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., transaction records), for fraud-prevention purposes, or to defend legal claims.

11. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), salted+hashed password storage, and least-privilege access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International users

OmniSocial is operated from the United States and is intended for U.S. residents. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those of your country.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or with a prominent notice in the Service before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.

14. Contact us

For questions, concerns, or requests about your privacy, email our support form. We respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, as required by applicable state privacy laws.
